About Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City

On November 2, 2022, the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City held its grand opening celebration. Utah’s newest luxury hotel is a 26-story, $336 million structure with 700 rooms that is heavily glassed.

You can enter each room by using your phone as a mobile key. These rooms are scattered throughout a glass tower in the heart of Salt Lake City that is unusual in both style and height.

The hotel is linked to the conference center, which provides an extra 60,000 square feet of meeting space. These rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows for great views and technological capabilities like event transmission.

The heated outdoor pool is located on the sixth level, and both hotel guests and event attendees can utilize the fitness center’s Precor and Peloton equipment.

The hotel’s glassfront is stunning. Three restaurants, a pool deck on the sixth story, panoramic views of the Wasatch and Oquirrh mountains, and diverse US artists’ projects are among its many highlights.

The world-class ski slopes in Utah can be reached by car from the Salt Lake City Hyatt Regency in 35 minutes.

The Salt Palace Convention Center is physically connected to the hotel, which has a ton of meeting space. The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City has several positive attributes overall.

In short, this hotel appears to be still searching for its identity. It’s a new hotel, yet it lacks amenities that other 21st-century hotels provide as standard.

It has several eateries, although the menus at some of them are quite limited. Identifying who and what the hotel aspires to be, and then offering a consistent product in that regard, would improve the overall visitor experience.

How to Get to Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City

The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is situated at the intersection of West Temple Street and 200 South, adjacent to the convention center and surrounded by numerous other hotels.

The Hyatt is about four blocks from the Salt Lake Temple and Pioneer Park, as well as a multitude of pubs, clubs, and restaurants.

Expect a 15-20-minute ride to the hotel via ride-hailing service from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

You can also take the TRAX Green Line from the airport to Temple Square Station for $2.50 per adult. This ride only takes about 20 minutes.

Those with mobility issues can call the Utah Transit Authority at 801-287-7433 to request UTA Paratransit Services.

If you have a car, valet parking is $36 per day at the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City, while self-parking is $25 per day.

Bold Tip:

You can pay for your transportation from the airport to the hotel using your Uber Cash credit from The Platinum Card® from American Express or American Express® Gold Card (enrollment needed).

When you add your Amex Gold card to your Uber account, you’ll receive up to $200 in Uber Cash credit ($15 every month and $35 in December) and up to $10 per month in Uber Cash for Uber Eats orders or Uber rides in the United States.

Check-in and Lobby

Entering the lobby from the elevators on the hotel’s east side, welcomed by massive concrete pillars on marble flooring, elegant sitting places, and art-filled walls.

One of the hotel’s three restaurants, The Salt Republic, was tucked into a corner close to its grab-and-go Market. We arrived at the check-in desk after a fast walk through the lobby, past the cocktail area, and Contribution.

Notable Features

  • The vibrant but tasteful palette in the guest rooms and corridors will have you thinking about remodeling your own home.
  • A sliding barn door dividing the bedroom and bathroom was unusual and gave a quiet entrance and exit.
  • The location was wonderful, as it was attached to the convention center and also quite close to tourist attractions such as the Salt Lake Temple.
  • Split entrances on both sides of the street corner allowed for simple access and avoided traffic bottlenecks.

Interesting Local Activities

Numerous outdoor activities, such as those at Red Butte Canyon, the Great Salt Lake, and the Wasatch Mountains, are accessible from the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City.

Twelve national parks are reachable in a day’s trip, and there are seven ski resorts within a 35-minute drive.

The closest ones are less than a four-hour drive away and are Capital Reef National Park, Great Basin National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Arches National Park.

Plethora of Fine Artworks

The natural beauty of Salt Lake City’s surroundings and the city itself served as inspiration for the hotel’s collection of artwork. The hotel is decorated with contemporary depictions of mountains, snow, and even honeycomb (Utah is known as the Beehive State).

Along the side wall of the foyer, one of the hotel’s most remarkable works of art may be located. As you wander around these mirrored honeycomb structures, the light catches them in different ways, creating the appearance of motion.

It was revealed that these items were created by a family in Ukraine during a tour of the hotel. They were appointed before the war even began. The family was keen to maintain the contract because the income was sorely needed, so the hotel stayed in touch with them.

A group of deer sculptures covered in a cable-knit sweater texture that was high on several walls in the foyer and at the doors leading from the hotel to the convention center was one of the more amusing works of art.

For stays of up to six nights, there is a $150 cleaning fee; for holidays of seven or more, there is a $300 cleaning fee. The weight limit for dogs is 50 pounds. As long as the aggregate weight of the dogs is 75 pounds or less, there can only be two dogs at most per room.

Room Booking

The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is a World of Hyatt Category 3 facility. You can redeem 9,000 points each night for your off-peak stay because World of Hyatt uses peak and off-peak reward pricing.

Cash prices for a basic room were $209 per night, resulting in a redemption rate of 2.32 cents per point for this redemption.

Rooms in the Regency Club cost 14,000 points per night, while suites cost 17,000–18,000 points per night. To ensure a standard suite for your stay, you can book regular accommodations and then connect a suite upgrade award.

Hyatt Regency Food and Drinks

The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City offers a variety of dining and beverage options, including Contribution, a bar located right off the lobby.

It serves a wide variety of drinks, from draught beers and wines to cocktails, as well as small nibbles.

The Market, on the other side of the lobby, is a convenience store/coffee shop that serves grab-and-go drinks and snacks, as well as pastries, sandwiches, and a few made-to-order hot items like flatbreads and grilled cheese.

The Salt Republic restaurant features an all-day American menu, with plated selections and a $29 buffet for breakfast.

The supper menu only had eight main courses, so the options were limited. Steak, salmon, and a veggie burger were among the options.

You’ll receive paper menus affixed to a wooden clipboard as well as a wooden block with a QR code for the menu. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan alternatives are indicated on the menu.

A complimentary breakfast is offered from 6 to 10 a.m. in the Regency Club on the fifth floor for customers staying in Club Access rooms or with top-tier Hyatt status.

Bagels, muffins, fruit, and cereal are served for breakfast. Every day, the breakfast bar served the same foods, including two hot dishes: scrambled eggs and bacon.

While there are non-dairy milk options, people with dietary requirements may find them limited.

Mar Muntanya, located on the sixth floor, is another eating choice that serves Spanish tapas and paella.

Their Service

When you arrive, staff members greet you warmly and swiftly conduct your check-in process, outlining the restaurant hours, lounge access regulations, and where to find the gym.

The staff also advises that you can use the self-parking or valet options for free.

The second through fifth floors house meeting and event areas. These are accessible through elevators in the lobby and an escalator near The Market.

Unfortunately, utilizing this elevator was absolutely restricted, which was strange given that the elevators could also be used to access these floors without limitation.

You can order your car from the valet service via text message, and you’ll receive a response with an approximate time until your car is ready out front. This service worked flawlessly most of the time.

Unfortunately, this hotel fell short of service. If you want all of your towels replaced, clean bedding, or any other special requests for housekeeping, make them known to the hotel personnel.
